How To: Make Your Own Lotion

Today I made my first batch of handmade lotion. The lotion smells great and leaves your skin silky smooth!

The Recipe:

1 cup water
3/4 cup oil
3 tablespoons grated beeswax

1) Grate beeswax and combine with oil in a double boiler. I used a mixture of coconut oil and olive oil.  When everything has melted remove the oil and let it sit a minute or two. If you would like to add a few drops of essental oil add it now.

2) Measure 1 cup of water. You can substitute orange blossom water, rose water, tea, or anything you would like to use. I used Tea. I intended to use green tea. I had no green tea so I used pomegranate white tea, I'm not sure how this affects the shelf life so im going to keep mine in the fridge.

3)In a Blender, blend the water and wile the blender is on add the oil and wax mixture. Voila! There you have your very own lotion! Scoop into a clean dry jar and store for up to 3 months.

My lotion turned out with great! The tea and coconut oil combination made for a heavenly scent and gorgeous pink color.

There are endless ways to adjust texture and quality. Adjust the amount and type of oil to change the consistency. You could add one part aloe vera to the water for extra moisture, a few vitamin e capsules for nourishment, scent it with vanilla extract, rose water, essential oils, add color! Anything you want! the possibilities are endless! Try it out and give it your own personality! Put a ribbon on it and give as a gift!

This moisturizer was fun and easy to make. It is all natural, great for your skin, and inexpensive!
